We know the finalists of the Mies van der Rohe Prize 2024! Among them KWK PROMES

On February 20, 2024, the competition chapter of the Mies van der Rohe 2024 European Union Prize announced the finalists of the competition. Who was included in this group?

For years, theMies van der Rohe Foundation has been awarding the prize to contemporary projects, recognizing the best architectural practices, timeless values and ideas relevant to 21st century architecture. In January, the chapter published a shortlist for the competition, which selected 40 architectural realizations nominated for the award. Dobrawa Bies wrote about the realizations from Poland and Polish architects on architekturaibiznes.pl.

The finalists of the EU Mies Award 2024!

Five European realizations made it to the finals:

  1. Plato Contemporary Art Gallery inOstrava (proj. KWK Promes), Czech Republic;
  2. Student pavilion on the campus of the Technical University of Braunschweig (proj. Gustav Düsing & Max Hacke), Germany;
  3. Reggio School (proj.: ANDRES JAQUE / OFFICE FOR POLITICAL INNOVATION), Spain;
  4. Redevelopment of the Abbey of Saint-François in Santa Lucia di Tallà (proj.: Amelia Tavella Architectes), France;
  5. Hage in Lund (proj.: Brendeland & Kristoffersen architects), Sweden.

It was also decided to honor two projects by promising studios that were counted among the finalists:

  1. The Gabriel Garcia Marquez Library in Barcelona (proj.: SUMA arquitectura), Spain;
  2. The square and tourist information in Piódão (proj.: Branco del Rio), Portugal.

The award will be made in May 2024, as we will announce. You can read about the PLATO Art Gallery in the February issue of A&B.
